The person behind the code
I'm Gontse Sebolai, a software engineer based in Johannesburg, South Africa. I'm drawn to building structured, reliable systems that solve real problems - whether that's helping a foundation manage hundreds of youth programme applications or giving a small business its first credible digital presence.
My journey started at Varsity College, where I completed a Higher Certificate and later a Bachelor's degree in Web and Application Development. During that time, I built enterprise .NET applications with role-based access control, developed native Android apps using Jetpack Compose, and designed full-stack web platforms from the ground up.
University gave me discipline and technical depth. Building for real clients taught me ownership, communication, and long-term thinking.
Today, I operate through Dev404 Labs - my consulting practice focused on delivering production-ready digital systems. From PR agencies needing strong brand platforms to non-profits requiring payment-integrated application systems, I approach every build with structure, clarity, and intention. I care about clean architecture, sustainable solutions, and making sure what's built today still works properly a year from now.
I'm not just interested in shipping code. I'm interested in building systems organisations can rely on.
